You know, I have this feeling that Jiraiya escaped already from the supposed to be his death during the battle against his former students.
Well, I am not saying that my thought is correct. I was actually just confused of the presentation of the Naruto Manga.
As you knew already, there are two rain country shinobi that were caught by Jiraiya for interrogation. One of them was made into a frog and the other one was said to remain inside the belly of the frog.
Now, when Jiraiya infiltrated the building where Pain stayed, he was looked like the guy who was not made into frog. I just don’t know if he transformed into that guy or simply used a jutsu that will let him hide inside that guy.
When Konan attacked Jiraiya, he immediately used his Tod Silhouette technique to avoid the attack of Konan. Then during the slight battle of Jiraiya and Konan, this guy left.
Now, if Jiraiya used the transformation and shadow clone technique, then he must have escaped the battle already. What is fighting against Konan and Pain is Jiraiya’s clone only.

jiriaya will most likely die, yes that is true. but if you didnt notice jiriaya gave the frog some type of information in the form of a jutsu. so naruto may recieve the message of who pein is and kill him.

Saw it coming a few chapters ago. Each time a character gets those flashbacks their doomed to die. It’s to make us more sympathetic to their dieing.

jiraiya might die its to create suspense in the show and they will bring another important character look at sasori he died and tobi took his place

it is not really clear if jiraiya died or not..
the last manga epi in the naruto series is that jiraiya falls to a water and reminisce its past about the distined child (w/c is naruto) after that it was not shown if he really dies..so we might just wait about that..

No, it isn’t a clone, when clones are hit no matter the level of the user it vanishes. Jiraiya gets his arm cut off so intern no matter what it should vanish to which it doesn’t, plus i don’t see Jiraiya as much of a coward who’d run from a fight no matter what. He’s like Naruto that way.

Jiraiya is dead. The old toad said so. Even Tsunade cried about it. So did Naruto. Jiraiya got his throat crushed.

You never know what Kishimoto may have up his sleeve. ^_^ For some odd reason, I don’t believe he’s dead.
