As you already have known, the Rasengan used by Naruto so many times during the old Naruto Series, was not his own technique. It was just handed down to him through Jiraiya-Sama who was once the teacher of the Fourth Hokage, and the Fourth Hokage was the one who created this kind of Jutsu.

Doing the Rasengan

From image above you’ll see that the Rasengan technique looks like a ball of Chakra in Naruto’s hand. Well, that’s true that it’s a ball of chakra but the chakra flowing here is in circling motion that is capable of tearing off object even if the hardest one.

The Disadvantage

This ninja technique is clearly for close battle use only. You can’t hit your opponent if you’re too far from him. You need to push the Rasengan into the body of your opponent to rip him off.

During the battle of Naruto against Kabuto, he managed to hit Kabuto with his Rasengan by holding off Kabuto’s hand then stab him with the Rasengan.

So, it’s really hard to use this technique especially if your opponent is very much good in exerting defense against this, or even by just escaping the attack.

Improve the Technique

Actually, there’s two ways of improving the technique and make Rasengan as Naruto’s own technique:

1. By applying enormous amount of Chakra into it as hinted by Jiraiya-Sama.
2. By utilizing Naruto’s natural type of Chakra as hinted by Kakashi-Sensie.

Oodama Rasengan or Giant Ball Rasengan

For now, I will show you the first way of improving the Fourth Hokage’s Rasengan, by making it the Oodama Rasengan or Giant Ball Rasengan. The 2nd way of improving the Rasengan is actually will be perfected by Naruto as he will fight another Akatsuki member in the future, and that technique is the main reason why the Naruto Anime series was renamed, “Naruto Shippuuden”.

Now, the first step is to make an ordinary Rasengan which was developed by the Fourth Hokage, and then increase its force by supplying more chakra.

This technique was used by Naruto against the clone of Uchiha Itachi.
